DIVISION SPECIFIC INFORMATION
Within the Desktop Scanning Electron Microscope business (SEM), we build compact systems, designed with smart, low-cost solutions that approach the capabilities of high-end systems. Key aspects in the system design are ease of use, worry-free and short time-to-image. It is easy to start with SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) imaging without compromising on performance. As Sr. R&D manager you will manage and lead all aspects of research, planning, and implementation of programs and protocols into Desktop SEM R&D organization. This includes being responsible for the entire development process within an organization of 30+ skilled people. From early thought to delivery to the customer, keeping track of all activities including costs and prioritize towards ideas with the highest business value. You should also stay informed on what is happening in the global research and development community in order to ensure we are up-to-date and current with the most advanced R&D developments. As a manager, you will also have important managerial and administrative responsibilities including supervising employees.
To be successful at this position, it is important to be able to see the big picture as you will have to envision projects from start to finish. At the same time, having a keen ability to pay attention to details is important, as R&D managers ultimately need to closely supervise every step of the development process for new products. Leadership and managerial skills are also important in this role, as well as the wide ability to communicate well with colleagues, lower level staff and executive management. A strong sense of creativity will also aid in the process of thinking of new product ideas and solving problems creatively.
Bachelor’s degree and advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in engineering or science.
10+ years of proven experience, including (5) or more years of managerial experience.
Experience in building diverse teams and implementing strategic plans
Ability to Co-lead an organization
