Principal Program Manager

The Windows Devices & App Experiences (DAX) team is part of the Windows + Devices (W+D) organization and is focused on building platforms and products that deliver magical experiences across Microsoft, empowering every person and organization to achieve more.

As a principal program manager on the DAX team, you will work in a cross-functional capacity to help bring the magic of Windows to our customers. We are looking for a strong product leader to create and implement a launch framework that supports the delivery of our customer obsessed, multi-year roadmap. This includes leading execution related mechanisms, writing executive communications, driving strategic business decisions to closure, and more. This position requires a critical thinker who is also technically adept and thrives on solving challenges in partnership with others. It also requires a leader who is comfortable with a degree of ambiguity and flexibility that is higher than many programs, as the candidate will need to continually identify opportunities, create alignment, and deliver impact for our customers, as well as proactively fill gaps (rather than relying on others).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute against a rhythm of the business (ROB) that facilitates quick decision making and ensures the right people have the right information at the right time. Continually iterate on the ROB, adapting to the product lifecycle and changing needs of the business.
  • Implement and lead low-friction mechanisms to drive efficiency and transparency to stakeholders as we deliver against our roadmap.
  • Define and report regularly on product related milestones, driving forward motion towards launch.
  • Create and deliver executive level presentations to drive decision making and alignment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required and 8+ years of program and/or product management experience within an engineering environment.
  • Experience leading virtual teams (cross-org and cross-company) with influence rather than authority, plus experience shipping v1 products.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex data and information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, including executives and technical/non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker and problem solver with strong analytical skills.
