ID@Azure – Independent Developers at Azure – is a new initiative, to be built on the successful engagement model of ID@Xbox, our digital publishing program for Xbox, that will bring the power of endpoint agnostic Microsoft cloud services and cloud development education, to independent and startup game developers around the world.

The Director for ID@Azure is responsible for developing and leading Microsoft’s cloud services engagement strategy and program for independent and startup games developers. Working closely with the Azure Gaming Industry Vertical team, the candidate will help accelerating growth and adoption of our cloud services.   • Build partnerships with developers
  • Collaborate with the ID@Xbox team designing scalable systems for cloud services engagement with many partners
  • Implement scalable educational and evangelism strategies for a diverse set of game developers
  • Lead strategy to accelerate growth and adoption of cloud services among independent and startup game creators
  • Identify and report key issues and opportunities for independent and startup creators working with cloud services and technology
  • Work closely with the Azure Gaming Industry Vertical team to help identify and develop long-term partnerships with key developers


  • Prior experience in the game industry, working in a role at an independent developer or with independent or startup game developers, is required in order to understand the unique challenges and opportunities facing this industry segment
  • Current game playing experience is also a requirement, so that successful candidates can quickly and authentically “talk the language” of developers and games. We deeply value diversity in play style and taste –the type of games you play is unimportant, the important part is that you walk in our customers’ shoes and understand their unique challenges by actively playing videogames
  • Preferably five years of relevant experience working internally with developers and/or externally in a B2C or B2B evangelism, promotional or sales capacity. Experience with startup or independent developers is highly preferred
  • Love of learning, and a desire to understand and share and evangelize your knowledge about complex systems is a major plus. Ability to understand and explain highly technical concepts in plain language is a critical skill that will be crucial to the success of this role
  • Experience with real-world SaaS, Cloud, and server implementations is a plus
  • Ability to work independently in highly ambiguous environments, with both technical and business groups internally and externally
  • Self-motivating and self-directed
