Working as a Java Tech Lead within IT systems, participating in a team with an aim to deliver the master data management platform to the cloud and targeted to improve overall experience of the wholesale and rural client journey. We see the team as modern IT plumbers or surgeons establishing connections to global systems. All relevant client, trade and banker’s data is stored and secured. You are an experienced Developer and Java has no secrets for you. You work in a DevOps team and represent the driving force inside the team in producing solid, yet flexible, solutions for our users. Whether it’s on premise, or in the (AWS)Cloud, you know your way around our code. You understand the problem to be solved by understanding the user requirements, and how to implement these. You look for ways to solve problems, come with ideas but can also say ‘no’ when needed.

Department context
Imagine working in a challenging and international environment to enable the bank in providing relevant, timely and accurate data for the business stakeholders to make fact-based decisions. As a Java Developer within the Wholesale & Rural department you participate in a team with the aim to develop improved data connections, improve existing applications and shift an on prem Data Management platform to the Cloud. In alignment with the architecture roadmap the data platform will connect to the Enterprise Data Lake.

The Wholesale & Rural domain within IT Systems supports the bank across the globe. The Client Banker and Data services (CB&D) tribe delivers and supports global business systems, including process automation in the areas of CRM, Client Onboarding, Client Data Management, Document- and Case Management. The CB&D tribe has a global responsibility for servicing more than 20+ locations divided over multiple regions. The tribe is working closely with strategic programs within other domains to realize the bank’s digital transformation.

You can be a key success factor in meeting of those ambitions within the Area Data & Connectivity. As a Java Tech Lead you have an eye for team dynamics and help the team to grow in its development. Much communication will be in English as the end-users, DevOps team, and other stakeholders reside on different locations across the globe. Speaking Dutch is also a requirement. Flexible and remote working (from the Netherlands) is possible.

Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. Our DevOps teams bring talented people together to execute all change and run activities of the relevant application. You will be T-shaped along the way to help delivering value to the product. Together with the team we have a rotation scheme for stand-by service.

Your contribution
Your primary working areas are system, data and process improvements in the Global Client Data System (GCDS) teams.

  • Create and maintain application code in Java.
  • You will be responsible for implementing SOAP services, REST, Java programs, and production of smart data matching and filtering algorithms.
  • You define systems and project scope/objectives through research, fact finding and elicitation with a solid understanding of business, data, processes, systems, and requirements.
  • You translate complex business requirements into IT solutions.
  • You can produce robust code in the AWS cloud, or on premise.
  • You have experience with the Azure DevOps pipeline and other Azure functions.
  • You are part of a DevOps team with autonomy, you proactively participate in team decisions and challenge your team members on presented solutions and decisions.

Your Profile

  • HBO/WO level, preferably in Computer Science or with comparable technical background.
  • At least 8 years of experience in Java Development, preferably Java 8.
  • At least 3 years of experience in implementing complex systems in large corporate environments in the role as Sr Software Engineer/Tech Lead.
  • Hands on experience with Spring, Hibernate, JDBC, Oracle DB, Linux, WebSphere, SOAP, Rest webservices.
  • Must be able to write advanced SQL queries/ stored procedures.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development (must).
  • Experience in working in an international environment (pre).
  • Experience in working in an offshore delivery model (pre).
  • Must be fluent (spoken and written) in English.
  • Pre if fluent in Dutch.
