Janssen Vaccines & Prevention B.V. is a global biotech company which is part of the Johnson & Johnson family of companies. Within this family the facility at the Bioscience park in Leiden focuses on the development, production and marketing groundbreaking medicines against diseases that have a global impact, such as vaccines against HIV, RSV and Ebola. This is also the place where we will be producing the COVID-19 vaccine material that was developed in-house by Janssen Vaccines & Prevention B.V.
For our Engineering Validation & Maintenance (EVM) department we are currently looking for a new colleague in the function of;
Safety Officer (M/F)
The Engineering-Validation-Maintenance (EVM) department (> 25 persons) is a motivated and dynamic team. The department consists out of an Engineering team which is responsible for engineering, project management and automation. The Compliance team looks after the correct qualification and validation status of GMP critical equipment and processes. Furthermore, document control, quality and safety are part of this team. The last pilar within the department are the maintenance teams. One team is responsible for the technical support of all utilities, production, and laboratory areas; the other team is responsible for all involved production and laboratory equipment.
Throughout the Janssen Vaccines & Prevention Leiden Campus a lot of work is organized by the EVM team and is, mostly, conducted by external parties (contractors). Janssen Vaccines & Prevention is responsible that all work performed complies with regulatory (Dutch law) and with Johnson & Johnson safety regulations.
As Safety Officer you will be reporting to the supervisor of the EVM Compliance group and work in close corporation with the Quality/Safety Engineer on site.
As Safety Officer you are the first contact for each EVM member for safety related questions and you keep control over the save work habits via the J&J safety work permit system. You Assess the impact of safety related observations. You are involved in continuous (cross departmental) safety improvement projects throughout the year; you actively seek for gaps in the current situation, gain support to improve and lead these projects yourself. You set up safety Risk Assessments and Job Safety Analysis. As one of the EVM representatives for safety you participate in site audits and take part in (site) consultative bodies.
You participate in the EVM 24/7 team; this on-call service is managed via a rotation schedule. As the job entails teamwork within a diverse and global organization, we require good communications skills, speaking and writing, in Dutch and English.
The work will be done together, or in close cooperation, with the EVM Senior EHS engineer.
Via this position you are able to develop yourself and can grow into the (global) J&J organization.
Your key responsibilities:
Education: MVK Technical (Dutch safety specialist, secondary level)
