Senior Consultant - Operations Management and Excellence

Job Description

In this role, you have the opportunity to

provide state of the art knowledge and advice to Operational Managers within the various Philips businesses and functions, and to non-Philips external companies on:

  • Developing, ramping up and transforming manufacturing operations

  • Leading projects and programs in operational environments

  • Managing implementations of operational excellence methodologies and digital technologies

  • Developing industry 4.0 transformative opportunities including Industrial IoT, Advanced Analytics, and automation solutions across core functions like Manufacturing, Service Operations and Supply Chain

As Senior Consultant you contribute to profitable turnover, by creating and delivering value add consulting services to Philips and to organizations outside Philips. You co-develop an appealing portfolio of propositions and (digital) services, based on high level of competence and experience, customer orientation and teamwork.

You and your Operations Management practice colleagues work closely together in projects with the Supply Chain Management practice of Industry Consulting on topics such as Supply Chain and Network Optimization, Digital Supply Chain, Supplier Quality Management, Supply and Demand Planning. You collaborate on projects with Industry Consulting colleagues in Innovation Management and Development Management, and with other colleagues in Philips Innovation Services, delivering end-to-end solutions for customers.

You are responsible for

  • Partnering with clients to define and deliver on operational excellence and digital transformation to achieve rapid improvements in customer experience, innovation, revenue, quality, lead times and costs

  • Project leadership including plan and budget; organize and execute activities in projects, guarding project results (both budget and customer satisfaction); implementing and applying Ways of Working in teams to facilitate in-project learning

  • Work as advisor, or lead a team of Consultants, Business Analysts, and client team members

  • Actively leveraging your existing network, develop and maintain senior management level clients, business development and acquisition of future assignments

  • Spot trends in industries and combine these with new competences to create new or improve service propositions and portfolio

  • Foresee developments in your competence area and develop new competences yourself and with colleagues

  • Presenting at seminars or fares and introduce publications to actively market yourself and our consulting team

The department Industry Consulting at Philips Innovation Services is a dynamic group of approximately 75 consultants with a growth ambition. We work with leading clients in operationalizing their strategic ambitions in and across key areas of their business.

In Operations Management we support Operational Managers in solving complex operational challenges, improving the productivity and quality of operations. We work with our clients on key aspects for success: strategy, road mapping, architecture, process improvement, lean and digital manufacturing implementations.

The Operations Management practice consists of a team of seasoned professionals (approximately 20) combining the comprehensive business understanding with practical operations expertise. They have earned industry recognition during many years in the field.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Master’s degree in a technical or scientific discipline

  • 10+ years of experience of which 7+ years in key operations areas, such as manufacturing, service operations, engineering, or supply chain

  • Consulting skills, 3+ years of experience as senior consultant in a management consulting firm on manufacturing and operational excellence projects

  • Highly experienced in Operation Excellence, e.g. Lean transformation, Hoshin Planning, Problem Solving, Continuous Improvement, Agile/Scrum, FMEA, Six Sigma DMAIC.

  • Exceptional analytical and (quality and technical) problem solving skills and change management capabilities

  • Preferably experience in Industry 4.0 and Digital Operations, e.g. advanced analytics, statistical analysis, (financial) modelling, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)

  • Senior Project and Program Management

  • Self-propelling personality with strong consulting and interpersonal skills with the ability to gain trust, influence, persuade, and build strong relationships

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively with people at all levels in an organization

  • Customer oriented mindset, connecting easily to your clients and stakeholders through strong and compelling communication.

  • Mobile and excited to take on international assignments

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and preferably Dutch (verbally and in writing).
