Internship - Innovation & Strategy: Communication

Job Description

Location: Amsterdam - Depending on the possibility to work at the office due to the COVID-19 pandemic, for the time being you will mainly work from home and be supervised remotely.​
Type: Internship - not suitable for thesis
Length: 6 months or longer is desired
Time: 40 hours/week
Expected Start Date: June 2021

In this role, you have the opportunity to

Engage in an internship in the Philips Innovation & Strategy Communications team. Innovation & Strategy is guiding the course of the company and enabling Philips to achieve its ambitions in health technology through innovation. The open innovation approach harnesses relationships with external partners, leveraging company-wide synergies in technology, research, design and IP to bring innovations to market faster and more effectively. Innovation & Strategy includes organizations like Sustainability, Chief Medical Office, Experience Design, Chief Technology Office, Product Engineering and others. The Innovation & Strategy Communications team is driving the engagement with the global innovation leadership community of Philips (approx. top 500 innovation leaders), the global innovation community across clusters and businesses (approx. 20k colleagues worldwide) and are driving external thought leadership and reputation by supporting I&S leaders in their external communication activities. In the next 2-3 years, the Innovation2025 transformation program, designed to transform the way we are innovating at Philips will also be a key deliverable for the team.

You are responsible for

  • Providing support in the execution of the Innovation2025 transformation program

  • You have the opportunity to take-on an important role in hosting multiple internal events like the leadership webcasts, Town Halls and other leader and employee engagements.

  • Creating engaging communications content for in- and external channels

  • Provide solid communication advice and support for I&S organizations to utilize the internal channels

  • Supporting the distribution of key messages throughout the I&S organization through ambassadorship and traditional communication methods (intranet, newsletters etc.) but even more so, help building Yammer as the key communication platform for employees going forward.

  • Living the Philips brand – ensuring all content developed is on-brand;

  • You will work in close collaboration with all functions in the Global Communications Team to rally resources around your communications plan.

You are a part of

Dedicated I&S communications team that reports into the Head Global Business, Innovation & Strategy Communications and are part of a dynamic global integrated communications team. You will have a dedicated seasoned, senior communication manager that will guide you in the internship.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • University study in the field of strategic communications management or similar (Bachelor/Master)

  • Excellent English language oral and written skills

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with global teams located around the world

  • Pro-active self-starter who can work independently

  • Not afraid to ask questions

  • Curious by nature and eager to learn
