Department / project:
The Vaccine Generation group is a part of the Viral Vaccine department of Janssen Vaccines & Prevention (JVP) and focuses on the research and development of vaccines against viral infectious diseases. The group is responsible for the design, generation, production, and characterization of recombinant viral vectors, for applied research in the vaccine field. Interaction with R&D groups in the organization is an important aspect of our work. You will join a stimulating group of researchers in a very collaborative environment. We are looking for an Associate Scientist/ Senior Technician to strengthen our upstream processing/bioreactor team in developing innovative vaccine candidates aimed to prevent and treat life-threatening diseases
Jobdescription:The focus of the Vaccine Generation group is to produce small-scale adenoviral vector preparations and test their manufacturability to support the progression of potential vaccine candidates towards the development. As an experienced Associate Scientist, you will join a diverse team working on programs to develop (adeno) viral vector-based vaccines, expanding our knowledge on our vaccine platforms, and develop innovative vaccine processes and technologies. We are looking for a motivated Associate Scientist within the field of upstream process development. Under limited supervision, but as part of our lab team, you will support the preparation and execution of scientific studies. You will be responsible for the practical testing performance of new vectors and/or cells at the 2L bioreactor scale. In addition, this position requires a special interest and talent for data analysis, documentation, and reporting. Next to this, there is room to work on continuous improvement topics to increase safety, efficiency in workflow, and support of scientific projects. Experiments will be performed in bioreactors or in a reduced-scale shaker flask model. Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills are essential and the capability to effectively work in a team environment is required.
