The tribe operates from four locations: Amsterdam, Bucharest, Leeuwarden and Manila.
We are looking for a Business Data Modeller
We are looking for a business data modeler / analyst to join the Centre of Expertise Data Management in the Global Customer Data Management tribe. The Centre of Expertise owns and maintains the global customer data model and reference data and is responsible for the development, maintenance and usage of the model on a global scale. The business data modeler / analyst plays a key role in these activities, together with the members of the centre of expertise. The location is in Amsterdam, stakeholders are located in ING countries across the globe.
Your role & work environment
The Business Data Modeler / Analyst is responsible for all data related aspects of developments that require new or changed data. This includes working as a contributing member of multiple concurrent projects, working with architects in understanding architectural directions, gathering and analysing business data requirements, data modelling and designing data structures that align with data architecture goals, and coordinating with engineers who perform the implementation. You will work together with product owners, customer journey experts and engineers of the Tribe. Teamwork, sharing and going for results are characteristics of the Tribe’s culture.
Modelling new features in conceptual and logical model.
Assist and advice in mappings from country models to the global harmonized model.
Understand and translate business and data requirements into conceptual, logical & physical data models in support of OLTP, Operational Data Stores, data warehouses and data marts.
Consult on usage of the model and data concepts by consumers in ING domains, e.g. applying data concepts and data mapping to the global platform.
Contribute to development of capabilities and services (API’s, notifications) from the model viewpoint.
Provide cross-squad data model expertise that will lead to the appropriate linking and integration of data from different source systems.
Ensuring compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities.
Create and maintain data documentation that allows the data to be understood and leveraged for additional use.
Ensure that data designs reflect appropriate business rules and follow architectural directions.
How to succeed:
A master degree in information science or equivalent.
Business orientation and strong analytic ability to derive and translate data designs from business concepts.
Experience and/or training in Data Analysis, Data Modelling, Data integration and Master Data Management and/or Data Warehouse concepts.
Understanding of entity / relationship data modelling, being able to interpret logical and conceptual data models and able to explain these models in a natural language.
Excellent relationship building skills along with a strong customer service orientation.
A good general knowledge of the banking industry and banking products.
Fluent English, verbally and in writing.
Team player with good communication and documentation skills and a proactive attitude.
You are a naturally collaborative person who feels at ease in a cross-border culture, listens and invests in others to achieve common goals.
An advantage would be to have:
Experience with data modelling tools (e.g. InfoSphere Data Architect, Power Designer) and methods.
Understanding and experience in the area of data management and/or IT, data modelling- techniques, architecture and agile way of working.
Knowledge of and experience with the IBM’s industry models.
Experience as database developer or data architect.
Knowledge of banking processes and products.
Dutch language skills.
