Your responsibilities
In order to enhance society digitally we are looking to set up site reliability engineering. It’s not quite there yet! But we have strong ambitions in this area. If that sounds interesting and it fits with your current career plan do read on!

As a Platform Engineer you are a software engineer who has a drive to systematically enhance operations. You think of infrastructure in terms of code (Terraform) and rely on container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud native solutions (Azure) to delivery services to our customers in a secure and scalable manner.

You’ll work closely with our delivery teams (who develop our products as well as our tooling) but also with our data engineers and data scientists.

Monitoring and observability are important to you and you have experience with for instance Datadog or Prometheus. We’re not invested in service meshes just yet but you bring some experience or affinity with that to help us make informed decisions.

A large part of your job will consist of designing and deploying build pipelines (Github Actions) and you probably have more than a passing interest in GitOps.

Our software is increasingly mirroring more and more aspects of the built-environment culminating in for instance digital twins and API’s to programmatically drive processes to deliver societal value to the built-environment.

Your job ultimately is to help us make the right infrastructural choices in order to accelerate what we are doing as part of our purpose namely to enhance society.

This role is perfect for someone who looking to transition from a devops-type jobs into the practice of reliability engineering. In fact you get to shape this as you see fit with your team!

With whom are you doing this?
You will work in our Platform team together with other like-minded engineers Jeroen, Andy and Daniel. The team has strong Kubernetes and Azure skills, works in a structured, scrum-based manner and appears to have a quirky sense of humor. They’re pragmatic and professional while at the same accessible to the other teams and they maintain good intensive relations with the business. As part of you expressing an interest in this job you’ll get to meet this team.

What were asking

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a site reliability engineer or similar job (platform engineer, devops engineer, cloud engineer);
  • You code infrastructure with Terraform.
  • You have 2 years of experience programming with some sort of non-trivial coding in for instance Python
  • You have experience with Kubernetes and its ecosystem in particular Helm packages
  • Experience with event-based and microservices architectures is appreciated
  • Fluent in English;
  • You scrum.

What we offer
The freedom of choosing, as a team, the language/framework/platform that fits better the requirement, as well as gaining knowledge in other domains, like Ports, Flood Assessment, GIS.

One of the best things in an engineering firm is that there’s always something to learn and you love learning. The domains we work in are technically interesting and our fellow civil engineers are domain experts with whom we get to work daily creating software that matters.

You will work in a professional organization with appealing (inter) national projects and products. You support these projects in a multidisciplinary environment with experts who are leaders in their field. In addition, we offer good primary and secondary employment conditions as well as excellent opportunities for development in both width and depth.

For example, flexible working conditions and opportunities for international projects. There is also the possibility to qualify for talent programs at different levels.
