The Manager, People Development (MPD) reports directly into the VP, Global People & Org. Effectiveness COE. The MPD is key in supporting the HR strategy by means of facfilitating corporate training (non-store) and supporting People & Org. Effectiveness (POE) and business initiatives across Europe.

The MPD supports and drives Learning & Development projects - from identification of business needs, consulting with Business Unit stakeholders & HRBP’s through needs assessments, to the delivery and facilitation of L&D collective and individual programs; partnering with the POE team to ensure alignment with global learning strategy and people initiatives. In addition to Learning, the MPD also supports EMEA’s talent strategy initiatives partnering with the business and HRBPs to drive team member development. The MPD’s responsibility also includes the production of training materials, where applicable, and all supporting communications in order to drive a culture of learning, foster participants’ engagement in the proposed programs, and to ensure the long-term effectiveness of such programs as defined by the Europe and POE strategies.


Strategic impact

  • Develop strong relationships and serve as the single point of contact for business partners (including HRBPs) and business leaders on all learning needs across EMEA. This role focusses on all learning needs for corporate functions. You facilitate speedy resolution of all requests; Manage and communicate the Learning & Development road map and programs (aligned with the POE team) to inspire, engage and develop associates
  • Design and/or customize content (that supports and aligns with the global learning strategy) as needed for instructor-led, e-learning, micro-learning, video or paper-based courses including, determination of correct training intervention, creating supporting/reference material; coordinate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) as needed
  • Conduct ongoing audits of existing curriculum to ensure format or content changes/updates are completed in a quality and timely manner
  • Partner with the Senior Director, Human Resources to support in operationalising the EMEA Talent Strategy which includes support with building bench strength (via learning and development), succession, development planning, skill gap analysis, etc.
  • Provide coaching and training (Train the Trainer) for HR partners and subject matter experts (SMEs) to help conduct and sustain learning
  • Determine appropriate blend of traditional learning approaches with web-based technologies and micro-learning in order to create and deliver best in class content
  • Through collection of data, survey and associate/management input, measure and provide feedback on the effectiveness and ROI of the training deliverables
  • Build a network of industry connections to stay abreast of industry trends and best practices; Champion and leverage those trends and best practices internally
  • Evaluate and help implement new learning technologies and tools, as needed
  • Additional related special projects and specific tasks may also be required on an ad hoc basis, depending on the needs of the business and as requested by the VP Global People & Org. Effectiveness

Training Delivery

  • Facilitate and manage (in person and/or virtual) training programs for employees across EMEA non-store
  • Deliver Train the Trainer sessions for including advising HR staff in workshop and training delivery technique
  • Act as subject matter expert for training and adult learning matters within the Foot Locker Europe organization

Training Coordination

  • Manage the Individual Training Requests and Tuition Reimbursement Program
  • Coordinate the translation of training materials when necessary
  • Organise training venues and logistics as required to achieve efficient training attendance and delivery
  • Appoint external training providers, for example for language or computer skills development when required and approved
  • Manage the annual Training budget and departmental expenditure within agreed budgets
  • Ensure proper training administration and manage Training Centre
  • Bachelors degree in HR, Learning & Development, Business, Education, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years experience in Learning & Development or a similar function, preferably with focus in facilitating training programs and workshops
  • Experience in designing and evaluating training programs
  • Experience with adult learning theory
  • Fluency in both spoken and written English. Other EU languages will be highly regarded
  • Experience managing large scale programs and multiple projects in a fast-paced environment crossing multiple associate groups in an international environment
  • Ability to analyse business needs and design specific solutions
  • Superior written and verbal communication, collaboration, facilitation and presentation skills
  • Strong ability to engage business leaders, at various levels, in development initiatives
  • Confirmed service-oriented attitude
  • Strong sense of accountability across level of execution of tasks
  • Effortless virtual relationship building skills and ability to engage stakeholders from remote locations when necessary
  • Highly proficientinMicrosoft Office applications (Powerpoint, Word, Excel, Teams, Forms, etc.) and Virtual instructor led platforms (Adobe Connect)
  • Background in retail or FMCG is preferred including experience gained at a matrix organization
