The energy sector and the (chemical) industry are in a transition towards: the use of new feedstock, the use of renewable energy, process and energy efficiency, introduction of circularity and, of course, carbon capture and re-use. The group Sustainable Process & Energy Systems works on these transitional topics.
Our core technical expertise is Gas- Treatment and Conversion, Separation technologies, Bio-based Building Block synthesis and Energy Conversion & Storage. We work for- and with (renewable) energy and chemistry companies and in a network of international knowledge partners.

Within our group we are looking for a junior lab engineer who wants to work on these topics.
The position is best suited to an enthusiastic person with the following characteristics:
•You have a hands-on mentality, and are very comfortable with working in a lab and working in a team of researchers
•You can work independently in a lab environment and you are you are able to set up measurement equipment for tests and performing, analyzing and reporting the experiments
•You are safety conscious and accurate
•You like working on the development of (pilot) systems that can be demonstrated at the site of the customer
•You have excellent interpersonal skills and are proactive in communicating with internal and external stakeholders
For the work on electrification the type of work you will be doing is:
•Reactor testing: various reactor concepts, electrodes and materials
•Construction of demonstration setups and lab-scale electrolysis testing
•Setting up and carrying out testing programs in the lab using the setups
•Support the team with the research on electrochemical process design and optimization
•Support the collaboration with academia and in writing scientific publications

The ideal applicant would have the following background:
•You have an M.Sc. in process technology or chemical engineering (No PhD is required)
•You have experience in electrochemistry or electrochemical engineering with hands-on experience in voltammetry and preparative electrolysis
