Category Manager m/vThe job belongs to the Marketing department. The Category Manager reports to the Marketing & Communication Manager. The Category Manager works in close cooperation with marketing colleagues and other depart-ments e.g. Sales, R&D, Production, Potato. Purpose of the job:The Category Manager ensures a product portfolio that delivers volume growth and profitability by aligning with market and customer needs, both short term and long term. Is the owner of the assigned category. The Category Manager builds and delivers new product concepts and manag-es existing product concepts. Description of the activities:1. Tasks• Ownership: Is owner of the assigned category and is the category specialist:o Develops the category plan and executes the by the management adopted plan ac-cordingly;o Owns and builds product concepts according to market/customer needs in an interna-tional context. Cooperates closely with the Sales colleagues to ensure that both, mar-keting and sales, pursue similar goals: The Sales plans and Marketing plans are based on each other;o Briefs the Product Managers on required packaging changes and ensures uniform brand identity.• Innovation: Initiates and leads new product development projects to optimize category performance by developing and launching new product concepts:o Sets up and leads multidisciplinary project teams (R&D, production, QA, potato, sales) from start to finish;o Defines the technical product attributes and creates the product concept by building sales stories, product communication, product photography;o Works according the stage-and-gate process and presents frequently in the innova-tions meeting;o Validates product prototypes by executing product benchmarking and consumer re-search.o Ensures proper category understanding by proper training of sales and marketing;• Category plan: Defines and executes the category plan for the assigned category in line with corporate strategy:o Defines the Product Road Map of FF International and delivers accordingly;o Delivers product concepts, with product communication explaining USP’s, position-ing, benefits, target groups;o Drives and supports category growth by offering field support/customer visits on key accounts;o Gathers and builds market intelligence and insights on the category and monitors product performance against competition benchmark.o Manages the assigned product portfolio in terms of concept, product specification, pricing, profitability, packaging, monitoring performance.• Business development:o Builds strong relationships with sales teams and key customers;o Monitors market developments.• Others:o Is the ambassador of the category and provides training and guidance to sales and trade marketing;o Supports key account sales by contributing to tailored sales concepts for specific customers.
