The Relationship Director ("RD") is positioned in the commercial department of ABN AMRO Lease UK ("Lease") and reports to the Head of Sales Lease.
The commercial department for Lease consists of Business Development Directors ("BDD"), Relationship Directors ("RD"), Deal Structurers ("DS"), Portfolio Managers and Commercial Support. BDD's are responsible for new client acquisition through specific channels - ABN AMRO Bank, Direct and via Key Business Introducers ("KBI"). RDs are responsible for day to day management of existing client relationships and developing new business/lending opportunities from within their client portfolios. DS works closely with the BDD and supports the client acquisition process through prospect due diligence and by inputting into credit applications (from a business, financial, structural and asset risk perspective). Portfolio Managers are responsible for in-life management of the credit review process, client and covenant monitoring. The Commercial Support team supports the RDs with documentation production and deal execution.
Your jobThrough their new business development and client management activities, focussed on a specific region, the RD contributes to the expansion of the portfolio in the UK. The job holder is an expert in equipment leasing and experienced in deal structuring, financial assessment and risk analysis. They manage priorities, communicate effectively and respond to the different interests of stakeholders, both internally and externally. Gains are achieved through collaboration with 2nd Line enabling functions (e.g. Risk Management, Asset Valuation, Legal) and the local ABN AMRO Bank.
Key responsibilities
The RD has the following responsibilities:
• Managing the day to day client relationship.
• Growing their portfolio through direct client interaction, via intermediaries and through cross-collaboration activities with ABN AMRO Bank, whilst adhering to the moderate risk profile of Lease.
• Completion and submissions of credit proposals.
• Management of the end to end transaction process, including pricing, deal structuring, documentation negotiation and execution.
• Maintaining relationships with key stakeholders within Lease and ABN AMRO Bank.
• Working independently, as well as part of a deal team.
• Developing and maintaining a contact plan with all clients and intermediaries within their region, and ABN AMRO Bank colleagues.
Targets & Results
• Targets will be aligned with group targets on revenue, profit, balance sheet growth, portfolio mix, risk and costs.
• Performance Management & Measurement are conducted in respect of output and behaviour.

• Achieving the new business goals and contributing to the overall performance of Lease, ABF and ABN AMRO Bank.
• Growing the regional portfolio within the moderate risk profile mandate.
• Originating and executing new transactions.
• Day to day management of the regional portfolio.
• Assessing potential customers and deals for their fit within ABF's strategy and Risk Appetite Statement.
• Writing detailed credit proposals, analysing and presenting financial and non-financial risks.
• Presenting proposals to the Credit Committees of ABF and ABN AMRO Bank.
• Data quality and data integrity in respect of the regional portfolio.
Network
• Builds a network clients and intermediaries, in line with the Lease plan, to optimise and grow the customer base.
• Takes the lead in establishing and managing relationships.
• Creates opportunities for the origination of (profitable) new deals and structures.
Expertise
• Provides expertise, in line with commercial plans, to optimise income/return from financing structures with both existing, as well as new clients.
• Coordinates and executes deals and draws up recommendations for 2nd Line functions.
• Coordinates and enhances the internal and external network of stakeholders.
