About Floating Opera Press: Floating Opera Press is a Detroit- and Berlin-based occasional imprint started by Aaron Bogart, publishing contemporary criticism and artists’ books. In 2021, Floating Opera Press started publishing the Critic’s Essay Series. Comprising long-form essays, the series gives voice to critics who offer thought-provoking ways in which to subvert or replace normative modes of discussing culture and the world beyond.
Key Tasks as Editorial Assistant: Proofreading texts such as manuscripts, artist books and exhibition catalogues, Creating posts for social media, Ensuring orders are processed with our warehouse, Representing the imprint at book fairs, Liaising with writers, booksellers, editors, Image research for upcoming books, Assisting with PR and outreach, Handling invoices
Ideal Candidate: Native or fluent English speaker, Knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style, Some editorial or publishing experience, An eye for social media and some experience with it, Awareness of the literary landscape, figures and trends, Enrolled in or graduated from studies such as literature, art history, philosophy, critical studies, anthropology, languages, history, etc., Experience with Google Workspace
