Position overview
The HV Battery Team as a part of the Complete Vehicle Department is taking responsibility for HV Battery analysis in North America by covering analysis activities of high-voltage battery systems. Within this team, the Technician HV Battery Analyst conducts in-depth analysis of high-voltage battery systems to identify and evaluate damage and failure modes. This role is also responsible for performing root cause analysis on battery failures, including electrical, thermal, and mechanical aspects. The responsibility necessitates abreast of the latest technology on industry standards and regulations related to battery safety and performance.
Roles & responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth analysis of high-voltage battery systems to identify and evaluate damage and failure modes
- Perform root cause analysis on battery failures, including electrical, thermal, and mechanical aspects
- Contributes to continuous development of testing protocols to assess the impact of various stressors on battery performance and integrity
- Collaborate with engineering teams to design experiments that simulate real-world conditions and potential damage scenarios
- Analyze data from tests and simulations to provide insights into battery durability and reliability
- Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations summarizing findings
- Stay updated on industry standards and regulations related to battery safety and performance
Qualifications
Required qualifications include:
- Three to four-year Engineering or technical-based degree in automotive related or battery technologies
- 2+ years of automotive industry experience in an HV systems technician or related role
- Advanced knowledge of HV battery technologies within automotive systems
- Proven experience in damage analysis and failure mode effects analysis (FMEA) for high-voltage battery systems up to 1000V DC
- Expert knowledge with associated diagnostic tools to analyze problems on HV systems
- Strong understanding of battery technologies, chemistry, and degradation mechanisms
- Excellent analytical skills and keen attention to detail
- Proficiency with planning, scheduling and executing work orders
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
Preferred qualifications include:
- Extensive work experience and qualifications with Automotive High-Voltage systems and technologies
- Confident to work in an intercultural and interdisciplinary environment
- Ideal candidates are tenacious, persistent, well-organized, flexible to adapt to various forms of challenges, process oriented and work well within a group
Percentage of required travel: <15% (domestic business trips, Europe)
Schedule/Shift: regular business hours
Physical requirements
- Comfortable with physical exertion for 3 – 5 hour intervals
- Comfortable standing and walking for 3 – 5 hour intervals
- Ability to travel long distances in aircraft or via automobile (5+ hours)
- This job operates in a workshop and office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, cameras, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, high-voltage systems, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit, stand, move, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
The salary range for this role is $85,000-$105,000 per year. However, it is important to note that at Porsche compensation range is dependent on geographic location. Individual salaries within each range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skillset.
Porsche reviews compensation regularly and may adjust base salaries to reflect market competitiveness.
