Software Developer (m/f/d) with C# and Unity experience for the Daimler XR (AR/MR/VR)Platform

Tasks

Do you want to support one of the most exciting projects at Daimler for digital transformation? Do you want to make the inherently complex XR technology for Daimler employees as easy and accessible as the operation of PowerPoint? We are looking for an experienced developer with first professional experience who joins our motivated cross-functional software development team during the scaling phase of the platform and will take technical ownership of software modules perspectively.

Daimler Protics GmbH has been developing a Unity-based XR (AR/MR/VR) platform for the Daimler Group for several years, which covers the requirements of many business units from engineering to after-sales and is used by more and more business units at Daimler. The cloud-based (CaaS) platform supports the end2end-process by processing 3D- and metadata from Daimler source systems automatically, either to create XR experiences directly or, depending on the use case, provide the data in editor tools of the platform to create XR experiences much easier than without the platform. The platform tools strive for being as easy operatable as Office products. Current examples of these experiences, which can be executed on smartphones and tablets as well as AR/VR glasses and on the web, range from assembly and repair training, gamified quality controls to X-ray vision applications in sales, which explain the invisible features of Daimler vehicles. In addition to the data pipeline, the platform also provides functions from the areas of computer vision (e.g. model tracking) and artificial intelligence (e.g. object recognition) possibly in future.

    Join our team:

As a software developer you are part of the scrum team and you help incrementing the value of the platform by working on backlog items. As technical owner of software modules you also take responsibility for software quality and customer experience. Your tasks consist of:

  • Frontend development in the Unity-based editors of the platform to enable new use cases, implement service REST APIs
  • Develop data converters and experience generators in c# (maybe c++ as well) platform services
  • Develop the web frontend further (.NET Micro, HTML/CSS) to add publication workflows, device management, etc.
  • Support subproject leaders in client meetings and with acquisition of new clients
  • Take on responsibility for own software components (editors, pipelines, viewers) perspectively and take full responsibility for a good customer experience
