Role Summary

The Audit Analyst within the Private Bank Germany Technology team reports into a global Principal Audit Manager (PAM) who in turn reports into the IT Chief Auditor (CA). The CA has global responsibility.

The Audit Analyst predominantly supports the audit team on internal audits of a specific business/functional area throughout the entire audit lifecycle (e.g. identifying key automated application controls as well as performing ITGC (IT General Control) testing), focusing on testing effectiveness of key controls and on building a working knowledge of the audit Methodology with specific guidance.

The Audit Analyst proactively develops and maintains professional working relationships, primarily within the audit team, and also with subject matter experts and other teams from across the function to provide ‘front-to-back’/SME audit coverage.

Role Responsibilities

  • Executes day-to-day operational audit work in line with the agreed audit approach, and contributes to the delivery of audits (e.g. documents process and system flows, identifies and tests key controls to determine whether they are properly designed and are operating effectively, and documents work papers in accordance with divisional standards).

  • Completes all assigned audit work in line with agreed timelines and budgets, including ad hoc projects and special investigations.

  • Partners with other divisional/teams during audit engagement to guarantee an integrated approach; communicates openly with divisional and internal stakeholders to keep them informed of potential issues, and escalates problems/delays accordingly.

  • Takes ownership for own career management, seeking opportunities for continuous development of personal capability and improved performance contribution.

  • Whilst the role is based in Berlin, the Audit Analyst is responsible for coverage in certain other locations in Germany. Some travel may therefore be required.

Skills and Experience

  • University degree preferably in Computer Science/Information Technology, Mathematics, Engineering, or equivalent qualification in the areas of information security, project management or process-/quality management would be an advantage. Professional/industry recognised qualifications e.g. CISA, CISSP, CISM, CRISC are highly beneficial.

  • Good knowledge of auditing standards and concepts, demonstrable experience of auditing IT General Controls, risk based auditing, and a clear understanding of the relationship between IT risk and underlying business process risk.

  • Exposure to private- and commercial clients and products as well as experience of auditing IT applications supporting retail banking business and core banking systems (incl. audits of automated application controls), would be beneficial.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills; a structured thought process with the ability to clearly articulate control deficiencies and related risks, and communicating with clarity verbally and in writing in a logical order and structured approach. Fluent in English (written and verbal).

  • Flexible, proactive and innovative mind set with strong organizational skills to take ownership and responsibility for agreed targets, to enable a timely and efficient completion of audit projects.
