Associate Director, Translational Innovation Platform - Immunology/Neurology (all genders)

Your role:

We are looking for an experienced individual with longstanding expertise in neurosciences & neuro-immunology to support drug discovery in collaboration with the Translational Innovation Platform (TIP) Innovation cluster leads and the outsourcing high quality translational in vitro and in vivo pharmacology studies in these areas. You will be responsible for and expand external collaborations in the field of neurosciences with an expert role in autoimmune (AI) neurology and neuro-inflammatory diseases. In identifying and prioritizing new biology targets or phenotypic approaches suitable to initiate drug discovery programs, you have a strong focus on neuroinflammation and remyelination. This role utilizes scientific research and insights, designs and implements in vitro assays and in vivo models to support initiation of project with focus in neuroinflammation, neurodegeneration and repair. As a member of a cross-functional team, you manage and execute research and biomarker strategy to develop novel therapeutics for neurological diseases and assess potential in-licensing candidates. You plan and oversee key collaborations with CROs and Research Centers, work to collect key requirements and ensure ongoing and up to date communication with all key stakeholders.

Who you are:

  • PhD and/or M.D. with demonstrated expertise via impact publications in neurosciences.
  • 6+ years of experience in the Pharmaceutical industry with a clear track record of identifying new target opportunities which eventually led to advancement of clinical candidates
  • Expert knowledge in AI Neurology (eg NMO, MG) or Neurodegenerative disease (eg ALS, MS, etc)
  • Working experience with relevant non-clinical and clinical R&D interface partners, Pharmacology, DMPK, Toxicology & Safety Pharmacology, Translational Medicine, Clinical Development & Operations, Global Drug Safety, Regulatory Affairs, Biostatistics, Global Medical Affaires
  • Understanding the needs of R&D as well as non-R&D (e.g. marketing, portfolio management, HR) interface partners, external academic, biotech and pharmaceutical collaborators
  • Neurosciences acumen enabling identification of new targets to develop drug candidates as well as the ability to prioritize those of highest potential.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally both internally and with external collaborators to effectively initiate and advance drug discovery projects.
  • Familiarity with currant approaches for drug discovery programs
  • Strong team player, able to work in a matrix organization with experience in international and cross-functional teams
  • Fluency in English required, knowledge in other languages such as German a plus
  • Very strong communication skills (face-to-face, virtually) to deliver effective meetings, presentations, reports, BD evaluations etc.)
  • Excellent influencing skills
  • Very strong analytical skills and solid strategic orientation
