Senior Data Warehouse Specialist (m/f/d) based in Munich or London

We’re looking for a Senior Data Warehouse Specialist / Senior IT Developer (m/f/d) with Data Vault 2.0 experience at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) in Munich or London.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing a real time database/data warehouse application based on Data Vault 2.0, systems and programs according to design specifications and conforming to the timelines for implementation as identified in the Agile product delivery framework. Additionally, you will be actively involved in the integration and system testing of developed systems / applications as well as DevOps activities for various projects. You will also support the administration of the database application (users, roles) and you will also monitor and enhance the performance of the database. Finally, you will be sharing knowledge and mentor less experienced colleagues.

This role will grow into developing and managing the architecture of the reporting and analytics data warehouse product built on Oracle Exadata based on Data Vault 2.0.

In this role you will…

  • Develop concepts and solutions for critical database/data warehouse applications based on Data Vault 2.0, systems, etc. and take part in global project/product delivery teams as required. Program / code development according to specifications provided by the System and Business Analyst for enhancements and changes. Ensure all project development activities are documented and perform peer reviews for the code quality and ensure compliance to all standards and guidelines for software programming
  • Develop and maintain a wide-range of documentation, for example presentations, technical designs/guidelines, functional feature specifications, system requirements, etc.
  • Communicate (and/or train as necessary) on documentation content
  • Investigate IT procedures, standards and/or guidelines (including AGCS as well as Group IT standards) and evaluate existing systems/ processes
  • Conduct analysis on whether IT policies/standards are being followed, followed up and applied
  • Perform peer reviews for the code quality and ensure the compliance to all standards and guidelines for software programming
  • Proactively conduct ad-hoc as well as regular analysis on IT systems, documentation, processes, data, etc.
  • Proactively work and coordinate with relevant stakeholders (within IT, the business, strategic vendors / outsource partners, among others) to deliver.

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in IT, Computer Science, Business or other appropriate discipline or qualified by experience in a related discipline
  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience in Database and Data warehouse based on Data Vault 2.0 (ideally in the financial services sector). )
  • 5 to 7 years of experience working with Oracle Exadata and PL/SQL (performance tuning, small administration tasks, roles)
  • 3 to 5 years of experience working in DevOps and Agile set up using tool set like Jenkins, Git, etc.
  • Several years of work experience in managing projects/tasks in a global environment
  • Experience working internationally and of remotely communicating and developing regional teams across numerous locations
  • Advanced ability to understand and interpret technical designs of databases, platforms, architecture, etc.
  • Great understanding of system design, programming, development and implementation in Oracle Exadata and PL/SQL
  • Great understanding of Data Vault 2.0 modelling
  • Outstanding analytical skills
  • Advanced expertise in process workflow and documentation
  • Excellent communication and facilitation Skills (including presentation, team work)
  • Great international competence
  • Fluent English skills are required, German skills are beneficial
