Principal Product Manager: Sustainable Packaging & Innovations

As a Principal Product Manager (m/f/d)in our Sustainability Packaging and Innovations team, you will reconcile a delightful unboxing experience, a sustainable packaging portfolio and operational scalability. You will drive the process of problem discovery, definition, solution design and delivery to rethink our current packaging proposition and design new unboxing experiences jointly with our partners and internal stakeholders, always keeping a strong focus on our customers and the planet. Ultimately, you will enable customers to live their environmental values and — in turn — positioning the Zalando platform as their first destination for more sustainable fashion.


  • Use a highly-analytical customer-centric mindset to rethink Zalando’s packaging propositions while keeping in mind sustainability principles and integration of logistics operations
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams spanning many departments (e.g. logistics, product, data scientists, DX, user research) and become a trusted sparring partner to the leads of those teams
  • Act as owner of your product: set a clear vision, smart roadmap and ambitious target. Measure the success of your product across large scale releases and continuous optimisation
  • Be a mentor to your colleagues by showcasing deep expertise in Product Management methods and tools. Level up Product Management at Zalando by actively contributing to important discussions and initiatives within the Product Management job family


  • At least 8 years of experience in Product Management
  • Demonstrated expertise in solving complex problems at scale and in ownership of impactful product initiatives through all phases of discovery, definition, design, and delivery
  • A track record of developing desirable consumer-facing products that required making difficult trade-offs between usability, technical and operational feasibility, market readiness, business constraints and sustainability
  • Demonstrated experience with end-to-end product development on the intersection of hardware and software
  • Ability to define and clearly communicate the product vision in simple and easy to understand language for a broad audience, including senior management, your team, and colleagues from within and outside the Fashion Store
  • Passion for developing new customer experiences with sustainability on top of mind. Logistics and/or packaging experience desirable
