Senior Fullstack Engineer - Customer Fulfillment (Typescript, Kotlin)

Every year Zalando delivers hundreds of millions of fashion articles to tens of millions of customers across 17 European markets. In Helsinki, the Customer Fulfillment teams are building products to streamline a wide range of processes and material flows in Zalando’s fulfillment network.

As a SeniorFullstack Engineer in Fulfillment Core you will have an opportunity to work at the core of e-commerce. We are building a new team in Helsinki to work on one of the key services in the Zalando fulfillment network. As a member of the cross-functional team of software engineering and product design, you will add new functionality, and improve the reliability and performance of the services. The services you build enable balancing the distribution of goods in the fulfillment network and contribute to improving customer convenience and delivering the best customer experience in the market.

You will be applying your technical skills to develop and maintain a complete service from the backend to frontend and to create a user experience your end users will love. The systems you develop must be highly available and resilient due to the nature of the operating environment and stakeholder requirements.

WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED
  • Create high-throughput scalable solutions.
  • Ensure code quality and knowledge transfer by being an active part in code review and pair programming sessions.
  • Take ownership of the entire development cycle - from solution analysis and architecture design, to implementation, automated testing, continuous integration and maintenance.
  • Solve customers’ needs by syncing with stakeholders and understanding the big picture and possible solutions.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • Experience in backend services (JVM/Kotlin/NodeJS).
  • Experience in frontend services considered a plus, or interest into becoming fullstack (Javascript/Typescript/React/MaterialUI).
  • Experience with cloud deployments and databases
  • Familiar with microservice systems design, API design (OpenAPI), and event-driven systems (Kafka, Kinesis or SQS)
