Team Lead Ethical Responsibility - Parental Leave Cover

As the Team Lead Ethical Responsibility at Zalando you are responsible for defining and implementing Zalando’s partner sustainability strategy across all our business units with a special focus on our 2000+ brand partners and Private Labels. You lead a team that owns the company’s sustainability standards and assessment processes and are a recognized expert guiding internal stakeholders and representing Zalando’s work externally.

Please note: This opening is a Parental Leave Cover from approximately September 2021 until May 2022.

  • Providing expert guidance to internal stakeholders including our Management Board on our progress towards our 2023 strategy goal to only work with partners who adhere to our ethical requirements
  • Enabling thought leadership for Zalando’s work in this field, e.g. via collaboration with brand partners and participation in industry initiatives such as the SAC, ACT, ILO, GIZ
  • Driving collaboration on sustainability standard-related topics with other retailers across the fashion industry, specifically pertaining to assessment schemes
  • Overseeing the onboarding of new category groups as pertains to social standards and business requirements
  • Monitoring emerging global sustainability trends, innovation and regulation directions with a special focus on due diligence and supply chain
  • Developing strategies to maximise opportunities and minimise risk e.g. from changing regulatory framework to the business
  • Experience in supply chain standards and due diligence in value chains
  • Project management & very clear communication skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills & experience leading teams
  • Ability to derive meaningful guidance and insights from data
  • Connector of key sustainability knowledge with business topics
  • Ability to move quickly and balance multiple tasks at once; Calm under pressure
