Amazon is seeking a Business Development (BD) Sr. Manager to join its European team. In this role you will be responsible for generating, managing and executing some of Amazon’s most complex and high impact partnership activities while having a strong technical aptitude to identify best in class partnerships for Amazon Web Services (AWS). This includes managing relationships and support negotiations for partnership deals which are unconventional in nature, need a centralized advocate, and/or have broader implications to AWS and other Amazon business units. You will interact with senior leaders at Amazon Europe across several of Amazon’s business: Amazon Web Services, Amazon Prime, Amazon Logistics, Amazon Payments, and any other future business which Amazon might launch in Europe.

This key role will be highly visible at the most senior levels of Amazon. You will need to work collaboratively with internal management teams to understand where relative advantages or risks lie, if/when major features are in existing roadmaps, and current trends around innovation, consolidation and customer adoption. We dive deep and provide thoughtful technical analysis, but are adaptable and action-oriented, focused on quickly gaining enough context to enable informed decision-making. Identifying and help execute strategic partnerships is our primary objective.

Proving you are an effective manager is a critical part of this job. BD is a small, tight-knit team who values authentic, strong willed individuals that think creatively and will proactively seek out opportunities to advance the growth initiatives of Amazon’s businesses.

The role can be done from Germany or the UK.

Responsibilities include the following:

- Help design a European specific strategy that can evolve into a broad framework for entering into strategic partnerships and alliances
- Take the action to identify, evaluate, help negotiate and manage partnerships that can involve marketing, content, commerce, and technology components.
- Be a point of contact for key partnerships for AWS in EMEA
- Ability to assess technical feasibility for AWS businesses.
- Help evaluate the economic and strategic cost-benefit of partnerships.
- Cooperate with cross-functional teams including Product, Operations, Engineering, Legal, Finance, Tax, Accounting, Corporate Development and senior management to help execute on the relationships.
- Develop best practices to foster, manage, and track opportunities.
- Support the strategic objectives and interests of Amazon’s business teams.
- Recommend investments in key strategic partnerships. Help carry out valuation analysis and investment thesis/themes.


- BA/BS degree
- Substantial progressive applicable experience in strategic business development, product management, investment banking, or venture investing experience
- End-to-end negotiation experience, including identifying, developing, and executing successful partnerships such as largescale marketing deals, technical collaborations, complex digital media transactions, and strategic technology relationships.
- Substantial progressive applicable experience in strategic business development, product management, investment banking, or venture investing experience
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively while applying sound business judgment and quantitative analytics.
- Ability to build credible and trusting relationships across the firm and with key external partners
- Excellent stakeholder management skills to ensure alignment and buy-in across the organization

- Proficiency in other EU languages (particularly German) is a plus
